About RyanairNo-frill, all-thrill flying to around 115 travel destinations, with 362 routes to over 20 countries including around 25 all throughout UK and Ireland is brought to you and me by Ryanair. The Irish carrier that adds a dash of green to the mighty blue sky is the authority on short-haul flights across regional and other smaller airports. Ryanair calls Dublin, Ireland its home but this Irish airline is based in the London Stansted Airport. It also has based in around 15 foreign countries including Italy, Germany, Sweden, France and Belgium alongside a few areas in the UK. A few weeks ago, Ryanair expressed its desire to buy its strongest competitor, the flag-bearer of Ireland, Aer Lingus. The latter politely but firmly declined the $1.9 billion offer of Ryanair. This air carrier has 21 years tucked in its belt. If you are looking for an experienced airline, Ryanair has more than that. It is regarded as one of Europes most progressive airlines. It is also one of the continents more affordable air transportation alternative. Coupled with an uncompromising management, Ryanair has maintained a healthy following as satisfied clientele vouch for its dependability and straight-laced service. Christy Ryan, one of the founders of Ryanair, has lent its last name to this airline. The year 1985 saw its first flight out of Irish skies. Ryanair was founded in 1985. Among the list of bigwigs behind this successful airline are Tony Ryan and Liam Lonergan. Ryanair marked its maiden flight with a 15-seater Embraer turboprop aircraft traversing London Gatwick and Waterford. The main aim of this airline then was to break the monopoly that other companies enjoyed during those years. These companies are identified to be British Airways and Aerlingus. The number of patrons of Ryanair increased when it added another route a year after its inception. True to the adage that the world is round and one can never be flying high at all times, Ryanair suffered a significant loss and in 1991, it had to restructure. After studying the blueprint of Southwest Airlines success and applying it to save Ryanairs tail, the company emerged from such a down-trodden path with a remarkable 2.25 million passengers in 1995. Joining the bandwagon, Ryanair made its presence felt online in 2000. It launched its website and started the sales and booking of its tickets through e-commerce. It has then carved its niche as a low-cost air transportation because of the savings that it got by direct sales. It has cut down the expenses incurred in the commissions paid to travel agencies. Unbeknownst to the instigator of the whole online campaign, the website has gained an impressive success that more than 75% of the companys ticket sales stemmed from it. Upon seeing that they have gained a foothold of the airline industry in Europe, the management of Ryanair decided that 2001 was the year for a huge expansion. Its newest hub was Charleroi Brussels South. The following year saw more addition as 26 more routes were introduced and another hub was fathered in Frankfurt-Hahn Airport in Germany. The airline made public its purchase of 100 Boeing. The 737-800 aircraft series have made it to this airlines bases. Italy followed suit as Milan-Bergamo was added as one of its major bases. Ryanair then acquired its rival, Buzz from KLM, in 2003 thus making its place in the airline industry way more certain and established. In 2004, Ryanair opened more routes, including six of the ten European Union member countries and states. The phenomenal success of Ryanair has baffled and amazed analysts the world over. Showing no signs of dwindling, Ryanair projects the full-scale operations of its hubs in Marseille Provence, Bremen and Madrid Barajas next year. Fez, Morocco will be part of the new travel destinations to be served by this Irish airline. As of the companys latest report, a fleet of 114 Boeing 737-800 airbuses is under its name. If youre looking for stability, dependability and affordability, we have got it all for you. Fly high with Ryanair. |

Portugal. Ryanair offers one million "free" seats Click here for discounts on accommodation. Ryanair is offering one million "free" seats across its 76-route network over the next three months to promote the launch of its customer service and low fares charter. One quarter of the seats, on which passengers will only pay taxes, will be available on routes from Dublin. Michael Cawley, Ryanair's commercial director, said the free flights amounted to one third of the carrier's capacity over the promotion period. "There are no restrictions. The free flights cover the mid-term break for schools and the October bank holiday, a busy time for airlines," Cawley said the charter would let the media and passengers "judge" the airline, adding that it was Ryanair's response to the "smoke and mirrors policy of the high fares airlines". He also said there was a lot of misinformation about Ryanair's standards and accused the Advertising Standards Authority of being "more vigorous in its scrutiny of the low fares carriers than the high fares airlines". The airline also reiterated its commitment to safety and claimed that its order for 100 new Boeing aircraft would mean that by 2006, no Ryanair aircraft would be more than six years old. |
