Brussels offers the perfect getaway on a weekend and this autumn the range of cultural events on offer is almost unrivalled.

Running until December is the Audi Jazz Festival. With almost daily concerts there is always some music to enjoy with stars including Sergent Garcia, Herbie Hancock, Reggie Washington and Lloyd Cole.

From the modern stylings of jazz to a much older attraction, the India festival at the Bozar museum celebrates 1,700 years of Indian art from the 2nd century BC to the 15th century AD.

The modern side of India is also explored in the festival that runs to January, along with the spiritual and classical sides of the country.

The Boutique this autumn is running an exhibition about Charlie Chaplin. Pictures taken from the Chaplin family archive tell the story of one of the world's greatest entertainers – both in public and private.

At the Espace Culturel ING at exhibition of Egyptian archaeology under the title the Sphinx will take place this autumn. The exhibition includes 150 items brought together from the world greatest museums, such as Louvre, the British Museum and New York's Metropolitan Museum, demonstrating the history and development of the mysterious Sphinx.
