Shopping in San Francisco just got better with the opening of a new Bloomingdale's.
The store is the largest Bloomingdale's outside New York and continues the mission started by Lyman and Joseph Bloomingdale in the 1860s of bringing European fashion to the US, although the new store will bring New York chic to California as well.
Bloomingdale's fashion director Stephanie Solomon told the San Francisco Chronicle: "We've pulled out all the stops for San Francisco. We're bringing our 59th Street sensibility here."
She added: "We think San Francisco is a fashion town, and we're going to try out some new things here."
The new Bloomingdale's opens in the new $420 million Westfield San Francisco Centre – which offers more than 170 speciality stores and exclusive boutiques as well as cinemas, restaurants and theatres.
The store includes six floors and different levels, providing a massive shopping experience.
