Bmi heads to the 2,000 mark
Bmi now operates almost 2,000 flights a week, a new report has revealed.
The study by RocSearch reveals the airline now flies to 36 airports around the world and its low-fare offshoot bmibaby heads to 18 destinations in seven countries.
Each month the airline now carries over one million people.
The company report finds that bmi has grown alongside the aviations industry in the UK fuel by higher numbers of passengers heading abroad on with low-cost airlines, such as Ryanair, easyJet and Flybe.
The authors stated: "Today, passengers in the UK market enjoy a choice of low-cost airlines, regional services, European short-haul and international long-haul travel, along with a wide choice of carriers.
"These developments present a dramatic change from the flag carrier-dominated skies of 1980s."
New year will see bmibaby launching new flights to Barcelona, Lisbon, Marseille and Rome, while there will be an increase in the number of flights to Malaga, Alicante, Edinburgh and Glasgow from Birmingham.
