Multi-trip Brits pay dear for one-off insurance
New research suggests that frequent travellers are wasting money by buying single trip insurance cover for every trip.
The research from YouGov for swiftcover finds that fewer than half of the UK's frequent travellers buy multi-trip annual cover.
As many as three million Brits buy single trip insurance for every trip they make.
Yet the numbers of Brits choosing to take two or more trips abroad annually has soared to 55 per cent.
The popularity of European city breaks, boosted by the boom in the availability of cheap flights offered by airlines such as easyjet and Ryanair, has meant most Brits taking more frequent trips overseas.
One in seven of us has taken four or more overseas trips in the past year.
Columbus began the trend in 1994, but most travel insurance companies now offer frequent traveller annual insurance packages which offer a significantly better deal than buying insurance each time.
Customers would be well advised to think ahead and anticipate how often they might want to go abroad in the coming year - a tempting prospect as the long British winter sets in.
